duck duck GOOSE!
Christmas is coming, is your goose getting fat? My goose isn't fat, but she was up half the night making everybody within earshot tired. Oh well, goslings are like that I guess.
So, Christmas IS coming, and this year I am prepared. Every year I'm asked about small work for Xmas gifts, and for once, I can say yes. YES, I have six watercolor and pencil paintings in silver frames. They are aprox 25 x 33 x 1", and the watercolors are floated on a bright white mat. There are 2 pinks, 2 greens, and 2 yet to be determined... possibly gray. I think they are lovely and would make a great gift.
Get you one.

Blue View
These are a series of cyanotypes made by folding paper and letting the sun, and the shadows from the paper, create imaginary landscapes. Some look like the ocean, or a tornado just about to touch down, and some like icebergs, or deserts. There are 30 in this piece, to be framed in silver. Approximately 36 x 48"
watercolor and pencil
I'm working on some new things... small papery things, things easily handled and things that can be done in a basement if necessary. I'm thinking about my upcoming move, and the time I will be without a studio. It seemed like a good idea to get into the groove with some projects that I could work on while the new studio was being built. Here are a couple of my favorites. Both are on 22 x 30" paper.

Open Sesame!
I have some new work... and I thought it was about time for an Open Studio.
I don't think many people got to see my pretty pink painting in person before it went to Charleston, so that one, and a mysterious deep blue one will be on display.
Also, we are moving... so this might be the last Open Studio in this spot.
So come out, look at some art, eat a snack, and help me celebrate 18 years in charming Earlysville.

patterns for new eyes
what do you think children want to see... what do their eyes want to see? there are lots of new eyes in my family, and i find myself wondering about what kind of pattern and color is most engaging. i know babies are supposed to like bright, primary and uninterrupted shapes... but when they are toddlers, what then, when they eyes have built up a little muscle?
I was reading a few years ago about someone gaining vision and learning to see for the first time. I don't remember a lot of the details, but what struck me was depth perception, and how hard it was to learn that the view; the sky, the desk, the lamp, the balloon, weren't all within reach like the page in a book, but instead took up room in space, at various distances from your eye.

Ryland, Roderick, Fritz-Porter and July...
This is a newly finished piece that is slated to go down to Fritz-Proter with my friend Ryland Witt. She and my partner Roderick Coles, have teamed up on the Atelier for the month of July. Ryland has an eye for color and pattern, and Rod has got the lockdown on the best stuff; antiques, European Modern... you name it, he can find it.
I am grateful that they wanted to include me in their fantastic project.

Looking good in Austin!
This painting of mine (one of my favorites) lives with the nicest people in TX.
I like the pairing of the wood bench with the blue in the painting.
Let's hope this is the only tornado they see.

One of my paintings in a collector's home in Florida. It's a lovely environment for my work!
